Welcome to Austin College’s Arts and Entertainment, At a Glimpse for the month of March! At the end of every month, there will be a new list of all the Arts and Entertainment events going on at Austin College for the next month. If you hear of anything that we missed, please let us know as soon as possible so we can add it to this list.
There are several art exhibits that are open to students through the month of March. In the Ida Green Gallery, there is an exhibit by Michael Winegarden. Parallel Universes will be available through March 8th. Winegarden used oils and acrylics to create his colorful paintings. In his artist statement, he describes his inspiration for his current work as “juxtaposing images” and trying “to achieve visual unity from opposing content.
Another art exhibit this month is Nature Observed and Imagined in the Forster Art Studio Complex in the Dennis Art Gallery. Artist, Catherine Prose’s exhibit will be available until March 29th. This exhibit features painting, photography, drawing, and print-making created from 1999 until 2019. All of her works were inspired by landscapes and the natural environment.
Starting March 21st, the Austin College theatre department will be performing Silent Sky, directed by Vanessa Baker. This show will be performed in the Beardsley Arena Theatre at 7:30 March 21st, 22nd, and 23rd.
Lastly, on Tuesday, March 19th East Asian Studies is presenting “K-pop & the Globalization of Korean Media” from 5-6 pm with light refreshments starting at 4:30. UCLA professor Suk-Young Kim will be presenting.
