Homecoming Weekend is nearly here! From Friday, October 22nd to Sunday, October 24th, current ‘Roos and alumni will enjoy a variety of activities, including the ‘Roo Run, the Homecoming  football game, and a performance by the Sherman Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, the 2021 Reunion Class Giving Challenge offers alumni an opportunity to donate money to support current and future students– the reunion class that donates the most money as a group will win 2021 Homecoming Top Class Honors.

Friday’s activities include campus tours at various times throughout the day, an alumni awards dinner ceremony beginning at 6 pm, a Homecoming Carnival starting at 6 pm and ending at 8 pm, a pep rally from 8 pm to 9 pm, and a Star Party from 8 pm to 10 pm.

On Saturday, beginning at 8 am, the ‘Roo Run, sponsored by Kappa Gamma Chi, will take place. Meanwhile, a “Kid’s College” for grades K-8 will be run by the ACtivators from 9 to 11 am. Alumni can register their children and drop them off while they participate in other Homecoming activities. Additionally, the 1981 football team will have a reunion at 10 am, and an applied learning student panel will be speaking in the WCC starting at 9 am. That afternoon, the football game will take place at 1 pm in Apple Stadium, and Vice President of Student Affairs Carllos Lassiter will host an inclusion and diversity reception at 4 pm. At 5 pm, Alumni Scott Nicol ‘92 will show off an art exhibit that evening in the Forster Art Center Lecture Hall; there will also be a celebration on the College Green beginning at 5 pm and ending at 8 pm. To finish off the day, the Sherman Symphony Orchestra will perform off-campus at the Kidd-Key Auditorium at 7:30 pm.

On Sunday at 10 am, Chaplain John Williams will lead a worship and memorial service in Wynne Chapel, which will be immediately followed by a dedication to the Oscar and Anna Laura Page Meditation Garden. Finally, Alumni who participated in Greek Life will be able to attend an alumni advisory meeting at 11 am.

Homecoming only comes once a year, so be sure to get out there and enjoy these events!
