Roo Boo 2022

This year’s Roo Boo was a huge hit among students: both elementary school-aged and college-aged. For those who don’t know, Roo Boo is an annual event put on by various Austin College student organizations in which local kids and their families can come to the campus to play some games and eat delicious candy. Rather than being in October as in previous years, 2022’s Roo Boo happened on Wednesday, November 2nd, with the theme being “Dia de los Muertos,” or “Day of the Dead.”

Dozens of organizations came out along Windsor Mall for the event, including Greek groups, academic groups, and all sorts of clubs. Each group prepared a game for attendees to play; cornhole, fishing, and the shell game (putting candy under one of three cups and mixing them around) were among the most popular. Chess Club even brought out chess boards to teach children the basics of chess!

The event lasted from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, allowing the younger kids to have fun before their bedtimes, and allowing college students time to do homework and hopefully catch up on some sleep themselves. For those who weren’t able to make it this year, don’t worry! Roo Boo will be back next year.
